In 2025, almost everyone in Mexico was using the internet. About 104.9 million people went online. That is 86.1% of all Mexicans who are 6 years old and up.
The internet has grown fast over the last 10 years. Back in 2015, only 57.4% of people in the country used it.
Most people in big cities have internet access. About 88.9% of city dwellers go online. But in small country towns, only 75.2% of people use the internet. So the government created a special program to help more families in rural areas get connected.
Despite connectivity, less than half of homes have computers
Internet use is higher in some parts of the country than others. Places like Nuevo León and Baja California lead the way. In those states, more than 90% of people go online. But in Chiapas, only 71.2% of people use the internet. That’s the lowest connectivity level in Mexico.
Smartphones are super popular today. Almost everyone with a cell phone uses a smart one so they can connect to apps like WhatsApp to talk to friends and share photos. But fewer than half of all homes — just 44.7% — have a real computer. Most people choose to use their phones instead!
