Marie, now a Category 2 hurricane, brings rain and flooding to Baja California Sur and the Pacific coast

Rapidly intensifying Hurricane Marie reached Category 2 status off the coast of Baja California Sur on Friday, closing ports and suspending classes across the state.

A 10 a.m. social media post from the National Meteorological Service (SMN) said Marie was located 885 kilometers west-southwest of Cabo San Lucas, at the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula.
