Mexico has proudly set a new Guinness World Record for the largest exhibition of embroidery and textiles. This incredible project brought together talented embroiderers, artisans, and cultural groups from all 31 Mexican states and Mexico City. The goal was to highlight regional identity and preserve traditional techniques passed down through generations.

In a ceremony in Mexico City, the Minister of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, spoke about the significance of this exhibition. She mentioned how it represents the rich tapestry and mosaic of Mexico, showcasing the country’s culture and creativity.

Guinness World Records adjudicator Alfredo Arista explained the rigorous process to qualify for this record. Each piece had to be a genuine work of textile art, and experts reviewed them all. In the end, a total of 3,106 pieces were displayed, each made with vibrant threads and traditional techniques like the Otomí pepenado, pedal loom, and various stitches.

Ingrid Paola Rodríguez, a representative from Guinness World Records in Latin America, noted that this achievement would attract tourists and media attention worldwide. The exhibition is part of Mexico’s strategy to promote its cultural and tourist potential, especially leading up to the International Tourism Fair in 2026.

The exhibition remains open in Mexico City until February 1 at the Los Pinos Cultural Complex, which was once the presidential residence. Visitors can admire the stunning artworks and learn about Mexico’s rich heritage.
