David Olvera is a swimmer from San Luis Potosí, Mexico. He swam nonstop from Cozumel to Cancún, which is about 53 miles! This amazing swim took him 16 hours and 48 minutes. David set a new record as the longest solo swim in Mexico without any help.

Before this, David had already set a world record by swimming around Manhattan Island in New York. He is very dedicated and has been swimming for over 15 years. This was his third try at swimming from Cozumel to Cancún. After he finished, the mayor of Cancún gave him an award and wrapped a Mexican flag around him to show how proud they were.
