President Sheinbaum launches train service to Felipe Ángeles Airport – Level 2

Keyword Description
Suburban train A train that runs between a city and its suburbs.
Inauguration The formal opening of something new.
Terminal A station at the end of a transportation line.

Recently, a brand new suburban train line was inaugurated in Mexico City this week, making it easier to travel to the new Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA). This train connects the Buenavista station, located north of the city center, with the airport, which is about 40 kilometers away. It is part of a plan by Mexico’s current government to improve train services.

President Claudia Sheinbaum officially opened the line, saying it was a big achievement. The train station at the airport was named after Clara Krause, a remarkable woman who was married to a revolutionary general. The train line is expected to carry over 57,000 people daily, with a capacity of over 80,000.

The journey from Buenavista to the airport takes around 50 minutes, but this will be reduced to 43 minutes in the future. Normally, traveling to the airport by car or bus can take up to two hours. Currently, the train operates every 30 minutes with four trains, but this will increase to every 12 minutes.

The ticket price for the first month is set at 45 pesos, which is much cheaper than other transport options like taxis or buses. This new route will also help make the Buenavista terminal an important part of Mexico’s railway system again.
