Good news for racing fans! Mexican driver Sergio “Checo” Pérez will return to Formula 1 in 2026. After leaving his old team, he will now race with Cadillac, a brand that has never competed in F1 before. Checo will be teammates with Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas.
Together, Checo and Bottas bring lots of experience. They have won 16 races in total, with Checo winning 6 of them between 2021 and 2023. Cadillac chose them because racing cars in F1 is very hard, and the team needs skilled drivers to begin their journey.
Checo said he feels excited and honored to join Cadillac. He wants the new team to grow and one day fight for the top places. He also asked Mexican fans, and people all over the Americas, to support him and his new team.
At first, it may be tough because new teams usually start at the back of the race. But with passion, teamwork, and fans cheering, Checo believes they can build something big and make everyone proud.
