Isela was looking forward to her quinceañera, a special party in Mexico that celebrates a girl’s 15th birthday and marks her stepping into young adulthood.
These celebrations are really important for families and have lots of traditions like fancy dresses, dancing, and decorating with flowers. But when Isela’s big day arrived, hardly anyone came. Padrinos are like special godparents who help with things like food, music, and decorations. Isela wore a pink ball gown and asked guests to bring toys for kids in need instead of gifts for her. At the party, Isela was surprised with a scholarship (money for future studies) and even a piece of land. Everyone danced, ate, and made new friends. Isela’s original guests were gone, but she ended up surrounded by thousands of new friends who cared.
