British driver Lando Norris won the Formula 1 race in Mexico City, finishing 30 seconds ahead of everyone else in front of a huge crowd of fans at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Norris started first and managed to keep his spot even when other racers tried to pass him at the beginning. He drove really fast and stayed ahead for the rest of the race, beating Ferrari’s Charles LeClerc and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who is a well-known champion.
This victory helped Norris rise to the top of the points ranking, moving past his teammate Oscar Piastri and putting a big gap between himself and Verstappen. With Norris’s win and Piastri finishing fifth, their team, McLaren, has shown that they are the strongest this season. McLaren now has a huge lead over Ferrari in the Constructors’ Championship, which is for teams, not just drivers.
Max Verstappen also made news for showing support for his old teammate, Mexican driver Checo Pérez, during the driver parade before the race. Verstappen said he was happy that Pérez will return to Formula 1 next year and he enjoyed racing in Mexico because the fans are amazing. Even though they had some problems when they raced together on the Red Bull team, Verstappen still respects Pérez and the Mexican fans.
