Mexicans discover Japan – Level 2

Keyword Description

Cuisine The style of cooking and typical foods of a country or region
Hub A main airport or place where many routes meet and connect

More and more people from Mexico are traveling to Japan, and in 2025 over 200,000 Mexicans visited the country, which is a big increase compared to the year before. Many are interested in Japanese culture, like festivals, cuisine, anime and technology, so Japan feels exciting and different. Families are also traveling together, with parents, children and even grandparents sharing the experience of visiting a faraway country.

Japan is working hard to welcome Mexican visitors. The Japan National Tourism Organization in Mexico teams up with airlines and travel agencies to show that Japan is not only Tokyo, but also smaller cities and regions that are less known. They want tourists to see traditional festivals, try local dishes and explore places that are not full of crowds. At the same time, airlines like Aeroméxico and All Nippon Airways (ANA) offer direct flights between Mexico City and Tokyo, which makes the long trip easier and more comfortable.

Japanese companies are also paying more attention to Mexico, especially in industries like manufacturing, so business connections between the two countries are getting stronger. ANA considers Mexico City International Airport the best place for its main hub in the country, because it connects to many other cities. Although Japanese tourists also visit beaches like Cancún and Tulum, these places change a lot with the seasons, so they are not as stable for a big airline center. All of this shows that Mexico and Japan are becoming closer through travel, culture and business.
