One day, more than 60 women from the United States and Mexico met in Tijuana to sing together at a big concert called “Voices Without Borders.” Even though their cities are in different countries, and they had to cross a busy border, these women worked hard and helped each other. They planned for months and were excited to meet new friends. When the U.S. singers arrived, the Mexican choir greeted them with warm food, drinks, and a special song. All the singers felt happy to sing together and learn from each other. The concert showed that even if people speak different languages or live in different places, music can bring everyone together like one big family.
The idea for this concert came from two leaders, Daria from Tijuana and Kathleen from San Diego. The singers danced, learned new songs, and had fun. Sometimes it was hard to get to the concert because the border can be a tricky place to cross, but everyone was patient and kind. For a little while, the border didn’t matter. The most important thing was sharing happiness and friendship through music.
